Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed nearly 1 per cent higher on Tuesday, rebounding after two sessions of sharp losses, as easing crude oil prices and a recovery in global markets lifted investor sentiment amid hopes of an early end to the West Asia conflict.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 78205.98 up by 639.82 points or by 0.82 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24261.6 up by 233.55 points or by 0.97 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 78526.25 and intraday low of 77745.47 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24303.8 and intraday low of 24079.95
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3304.10,+3.67%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4382.45,+3.46%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13901.20,+2.94%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1312.25,+2.73%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2280.65,+2.70%), among others.
