Indian benchmarks Sensex and Nifty advanced, with the Sensex reclaiming 83,000 and the Nifty touching 25,420, after the US Federal Reserve reduced its key rate by 25 basis points to 4–4.25 per cent.

At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83070.98 up by 377.27 points or by 0.46 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25427.65 up by 97.4 points or by 0.38 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 83141.21 and intraday low of 82920.76 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25448.95 and intraday low of 25393.8

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1553.50,+2.00%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1643.80,+1.45%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1500.00,+1.27%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 976.35,+1.03%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2592.90,+0.98%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 995.15,-1.13%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 170.35,-0.53%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1932.55,-0.44%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2050.50,-0.30%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1124.55,-0.13%), among others.
